L. kunkeei is a member of fructophilic lactic acid bacteria which prefer fructose over glucose as a growth substrate and mainly inhabits in fructose-rich environments such as flowers, fruits and honeybee guts. The aim of this project is to study their unique genomic characteristics and their niche-specific adaptation.
