Investigation of microbial community structure associated with biological activated carbon (BAC) and BAC filtered water in the direction of depth in different plants

In order to estimate microorganism which contributes to removal of organic matter in a BAC filter, microbial community structures associated with BAC and in BAC filtered water were investigated in the direction of depth. BAC sample was corrected in the direction of depth at Kanamachi drinking water treatment plant (DWTP) (C-5 pond) on 13rd October and at Misato DWTP (2-1 pond) on 22nd October in 2015. BAC in backwashing water was sampled at Asaka DWTP (S-13 pond) on 10th November and at Higashimurayama DWTP (A-1 pond) on 16th November in 2015. BAC filtered water in the direction of depth was corrected on the same day at each plant at the same pond but K-12 pond in Asaka DWTP.
