资源简介:
Significant challenges remain around the lack of representation from underserved communities in the biomedical research and data science workforce. Despite being disproportionately impacted by health disparities, Black, Hispanic, Indigenous, and other underrepresented populations ac-count for a significant minority of graduates from doctoral programs in biomedical data science-related disciplines, a proportion that has not changed over the last two decades. This article pro-vides a summary of the National Institute of Minority Health Disparities (NIMHD) awarded supplements purposed to enhance data science capacity and foster collaborations within Research Centers in Minority Institutions (RCMI). Six institutions were awarded and in this article we provide an overview of these data science training programs with a particular emphasis on the target population and topics covered in the curriculum as well as challenges faced designing and implementing programming. While programs demonstrated success in topic breadth and pro-gram reach, further investments in RCMI centers need to be made to sustain these important ef-forts.
