Nature Types – Selected

The dataset shows registered occurrences of selected habitat types, cf. the Regulations relating to selected habitat types, http://lovdata.no/dokument/SF/forskrift/2011-05-13-512. Eight habitat types have the status of selected nature type: Coastal heath, moorland, hayland, calcareous forest, calcareous lakes, hollow oaks, open shallow limeland in boreonemoral zone and olivine forest. Localities of selected habitat types are managed in the Norwegian Environment Agency’s data set Nature types – DN Handbook 13 and Nature Types – the Norwegian Environment Agency’s instructions. The regulations for selected habitat types apply to all sites that meet the requirements of the regulations, regardless of whether the site is registered in Naturbase or not. The State Manager will be able to assist if there is uncertainty as to whether a locality is actually a selected nature type. In case of doubt, it may be necessary to contact special competence in order to make an assessment.
