资源简介:
As the global consensus on climate change responses spreads, many countries have declared carbon neutrality by 2050. This has initiated ongoing conversations to effectively limit carbon emissions, including various carbon pricing mechanisms, such as emission trading systems, carbon taxes, and carbon national economic maps. In line with this global trend, the need to introduce a carbon tax in addition to the emissions trading system currently in place as part of the climate change response has been strongly raised in Korea. Public discussions and policy interest in this issue are gradually increasing. Therefore, this study analyzes factors influencing public acceptance of carbon taxes in Korea. For the analysis, 15 variables belonging to perceived risk, planned behavior, resource factors, and value factors were used as independent variables, sociodemographic factors were set as control variables, and carbon tax support was set as the dependent variable. The analysis shows that support for a carbon tax is influenced by perceived benefits, trust, attitudes, sense of control, economic situation, political ideology, environmentalism, and generational justice—all of which have a positive impact. Second, in terms of explanatory power, trust variables presented the strongest influence on carbon tax support, followed by age, attitude, generational justice, sense of control, economic situation, environmentalism, perceived benefits, and political ideology. These results suggest that external factors such as trust play an important role in the acceptability of carbon taxes in Korean society, whereas personal factors such as attitudes and values, structural resources, and subjective risk perception play a complex role. Therefore, this study emphasizes the need to consider various factors in the policy formulation and implementation process related to the introduction of carbon taxes and provides basic data for the effective implementation of carbon tax-related policies in Korea.
