Serving as the core component of the infrastructure system and the lifeline of urban operations, urban roads play a critical role in ensuring the safety of people's lives and property, as well as the sustainable development of cities. Road collapse accidents have become a critical hidden danger restricting the safe operation of cities, which are mostly induced by underground defective bodies such as soil cavities, loose bodies and water-rich bodies. To investigate the spatial distribution characteristics of Underground Disease in urban roads, this study employed Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) technology to conduct a systematic detection of underground diseased in the built-up area of Lanzhou City. The characteristic radar signature profiles of underground road defective bodies were established,and major information including the types, spatial locations, burial depths of underground defective bodies and the pipeline distribution in affected areas was systematically identified. Through data compilation, a dataset of underground diseases in urban roads of Lanzhou's built-up area from 2018 to 2020 is established. This dataset can provide scientific data support for relevant authorities in urban planning and construction, the treatment and prevention of subsurface anomalies, and decision-making processes. It aims to contribute to enhancing the standards of urban development and road safety management., thereby helping to improve the level of urban construction and road safety management.
