Black and white lantern slide showing a group of African troops from the King's African Rifles off duty on the shore of a lake (possibly Lake Nyasa). In the foreground, a soldier wearing a uniform of shorts, over-shirt and cap fixes the cap of another of his colleagues, who is squatting down. Another soldier can be seen naked in the water in the background, and washing his clothes in the lake. Other soldiers can be seen lining the shoreline in the distance. This slide comes from a set on the activities of the King’s African Rifles battalions in Nyasaland. It was originally held by the Church of Scotland, and generated by J.W MacKay.
