Survey Data: Differentiated AI Self-Efficacy and AI Literacy in European Higher Education Students (N = 484)

This dataset accompanies the manuscript "Differentiated AI Self-Efficacy and AI Literacy: Functional Versus Delegation Associations with Perceived GenAI Learning Benefits and Dependence in a Multi-Country European Student Sample" (Mayer & Huber, submitted to Cogent Education). N = 484 university students across eight European countries were recruited via Prolific (prolific.com) and completed a cross-sectional online survey. The survey measured: AI Literacy (3-item subscale of the Meta AI Literacy Scale, MAILS; Carolus et al., 2023), Functional AI Self-Efficacy (FuncSE; 9 items), Delegation AI Self-Efficacy (DelegSE), Perceived GenAI Learning Benefits (PLB), and Perceived AI Dependence (PAD). Data collection: [02/2026]. Participants provided informed consent prior to participation. In accordance with the data protection declaration, the raw data will be deleted by [04.02.2027]. Access requests submitted before that date may be approved by the corresponding author on a case-by-case basis. Note: This record contains only a README and codebook.
