In order to control potato diseases (Fusarium solani,pectobacterium carotovorum, and pectobacterium atrosepticum), biocontrol bacteria were first isolated from soil (potato rhizosphere). The best strains that were effective in controlling potato pathogens were then sequenced and the clusters of genes producing secondary metabolites and antibiotics effective in controlling the pathogens were compared. This strain (Bacillus velezensis strain Q12) was the best among 500 isolates in controlling these pathogens.
