Register of agglomerations

The Environmental Noise Protection Act provides for the Minister of Regional Development to organise the establishment and maintenance of a register of agglomerations. The register shall be established in order to document the main characteristics of the agglomerations. Under this Act, settlements with a population of more than 100,000 inhabitants are accepted as agglomerations. Currently, the settlements that meet this requirement are the cities of Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna, Burgas, Ruse, Stara Zagora, Pleven.
