South African National Antarctic Expedition (SANAE) on the SA Agulhas II Voyage 018, December 2015

This report, containing data, describes the December 2016 - February 2016 South African National Antarctic Expedition (SANAE), an annual cruise undertaken by the Department of Environmental Affairs (DEA) to change the overwintering teams in Antarctica and to replenish the supplies at the SANAE IV Research base. This voyage was to deliver the SANAE 55 team to the island and return with the SANAE 54 team. The cruise was undertaken between 05 December 2015 and 10 February 2016 with full scientific complement.The data published in the report include the following:Sample location, Temperature, chlorophyll concentration and the volume of seawater filtered through GFF.Seal numbers recorded during ship-based strip transect surveys in the pack ice of the eastern Weddell Sea during the 2015/16 austral summer.Details of the deployment of SLDRs on, and sampling of Ross seals off the Princess Martha Coast, eastern Weddell Sea, in January 2016.Bird observations.Additional data can be requested via South African National Antarctic Expedition (SANAE) on the SA Agulhas II Voyage 018, December 2015
