Code and data for "Declining construction emissions in China mask a shrinking mitigation window"

This package contains the code and input data to reproduce all results of the article "Declining construction emissions in China mask a shrinking mitigation window" (Nature Climate Change; the article DOI is listed under Related works). It implements the stock-driven construction emissions (SDCE) model of China's building construction, which links floor area demand, building stock turnover and material flows to the CO₂ emissions of primary and secondary material production, and runs all 376 scenarios of Supplementary Table 14. Three Jupyter notebooks compute the results and draw the data figures (Figs. 1–4, Extended Data Fig. 2 and Supplementary Figs. 1–17; the schematic diagrams are drawn manually), and the data behind every data figure are included. The EXIOBASE v3.9.6 table (https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.15689391) is not redistributed and must be downloaded separately. See README.md for requirements, data sources and licenses. Code is released under the MIT License, data compiled or derived in this study under CC BY 4.0; third-party data keep their original licenses.
