森林演替规律是森林植被的基本属性之一,是深入地认识森林群落、正确地管理和合理利用森林的基础。典型常绿阔叶林(typical evergreen broad-leaved forest)是中国东部中亚热带地区的地带性植被。由于人为和自然干扰,现存植被多处于不同的次生演替阶段。群落物种组成是国家生态系统观测研究网络 (CNERN)陆地生态系统生物要素长期定位观测的重要指标,影响着森林生态系统的生物地球化学循环、生产力、生物多样性保育及生态系统服务功能,是开展森林生态系统结构、功能和动态研究的基础。按照 CNERN 监测规范,浙江天童森林生态系统国家野外观测研究站在 2008–2017 年对典型常绿阔叶林演替永久样地共进行了 3 次群落调查,每次调查记录所有木本植物个体的物种名、胸径/基径、高度等信息。本数据集通过整理和统计,列出了不同演替阶段群落包括物种名、多度、平均胸径/基径和生物量等物种组成重要数据,并包含了详细的数据集构建过程信息。建立和共享本数据集是为深入探究演替和环境变化对森林群落多样性、群落结构、碳固存等相关议题提供本底数据,为该地区的森林经营管理及生态系统功能评价提供基础资料。

The regularities of forest succession constitute one of the fundamental attributes of forest vegetation, and lay the foundation for in-depth understanding of forest communities, as well as sound forest management and rational utilization of forest resources. Typical evergreen broad-leaved forest is the zonal vegetation in the mid-subtropical region of eastern China. Due to anthropogenic and natural disturbances, most existing vegetation is at different secondary succession stages. Community species composition is a key indicator for long-term in-situ observations of biological components in terrestrial ecosystems under the National Ecosystem Observation and Research Network (CNERN). It affects biogeochemical cycling, productivity, biodiversity conservation, and ecosystem service functions of forest ecosystems, and serves as the foundation for research on the structure, function, and dynamics of forest ecosystems. In accordance with the monitoring standards of CNERN, the Tiantong National Field Observation and Research Station of Forest Ecosystems in Zhejiang Province conducted three community surveys on permanent plots of typical evergreen broad-leaved forest succession from 2008 to 2017. For each survey, information such as species names, diameter at breast height (DBH)/base diameter, and height of all woody plant individuals were recorded. This dataset compiles and statistically analyzes core data of species composition in communities at different succession stages, including species names, abundance, average DBH/base diameter, biomass and other relevant metrics, and also contains detailed information on the dataset construction process. The establishment and sharing of this dataset aims to provide baseline data for in-depth investigations on topics such as the impacts of succession and environmental changes on forest community diversity, community structure, and carbon sequestration, as well as foundational information for forest management and ecosystem function assessment in this region.
