A Database of Glacier Inventory and Glacier Changes in the Gongga Mountain National Nature Reserve (1990-2020)

This dataset is focused on the Gongga Mountain Nature Reserve and primarily based on remote sensing data (Landsat TM, PlanetScope, Sentinel-2) and field surveys. It investigates the temporal and spatial distribution changes of modern glaciers in the reserve since 1990. The dataset establishes vector data for glaciers in four periods: 1990, 2000, 2010, and 2020 in SHP file format. Considering the issue of insufficient remote sensing image resolution and mixed pixels, assuming uncertainty is half a pixel, the vector data underwent accuracy assessment. The uncertainty of glacier area is approximately 6.74%.The dataset comprises four data files named GGS_1990.SHP, GGS_2000.SHP, GGS_2010.SHP, and GGS_2020.SHP, representing glacier outlines in different periods. Each vector data file shares the same attribute fields, primarily including Glc_Cod (glacier ID), Glc_Area (glacier area), Max_Elev (maximum glacier elevation), Tail_Elev (glacier terminus elevation), Mean_Elev (mean glacier elevation), Ma_Elev (equilibrium line altitude), Mean_Slp (glacier slope), and Mean_Asp (glacier aspect).
