Abstract
Introduction- Maintaining strong balance control is essential for carrying out daily tasks, both when at rest and when shifting positions. The coordination of the sensory, neurological, and musculoskeletal systems maintains balance, but many of these systems start to fail by the time a person reaches the old age.
Aim of this study- To find out the relationship between cognitive and balance functions among young adults.
Materials and Method- A cross sectional study including 100 participants which was conducted during January February 2025 at school of health sciences, csjm university Kanpur. Young adults aged between 18 to 30 years of age. Cognition was assessed using mini mental state examination and balance was assessed using berg balance scale. The data was analyzed using SPSS software.
Results- Total 100 participants with mean age of 23.79±2.57 which included 45 males and 55 females. The data was not normally distributed. Spearman rho correlation revealed no significant correlation between cognition and balance among young adults(p value=0.085). Linear regression also shows the same result F(1,98)=0.62(p value=0.84).
Conclusion- studies with large sample size are needed to establish correlation between cognition and balance among young adults.
