Transverse structures and fish ascent systems

The improvement of biological continuity in rivers is part of the overall package “Improving the hydromorphological water situation” and contributes to the implementation of the EC Water Framework Directive (EC WFD). The State Office for the Environment (LfU) has carried out a Bavarian-wide data collection. In the reporting water framework directive network, a good 58.000 transverse structures (weirs, sole structures, passages, piping) as well as fish ascent systems have been recorded and evaluated. The data can be accessed in the Bavarian Environmental Atlas – thematic area of water management – or as a WMS service.
