Preference/trait equilibria with costs of choice and paternal mutation

This figure shows the equilibria from a quantitative genetic model of sexual selection with age-dependent paternal mutation. The equilibrium preference is larger than the equilibrium preference at all positive values of generation time. This means that for any life history significantly larger than 0 (on the order of 1 to 10) we should expect standing variation in condition due to mutation-selection balance, and female mate choice for good genes in older males.
