Composite hydrocarbon geology (CHP)

The KW-Verbund is a merger of participating federal states in the field of oil and gas under the coordination of the LBEG-Hannover. The cooperation is based on bilateral contracts between the LBEG and the relevant geological services or the Lower Saxony Ministry for Economic Affairs, Labour, Transport and Digitalisation and the corresponding ministries of the Länder. The following countries are currently represented: Berlin, Hamburg, Hesse, Lower Saxony, Rhineland-Palatinate and Schleswig-Holstein. The aim of the network is the common perception of interests and the transnational continuation of activities in the field of hydrocarbon geology. The LBEG advises and supports the federal states in their tasks in the field of hydrocarbon geology. The cooperation essentially includes: • Technical advice, information, participation in studies of national and international committees as far as they concern KW exploration, production, gas storage and other topics. • Expert opinions on the mining safety of CHP projects (production, gas storage, disposal of process water) in the context of mining approval procedures. •Collection, documentation, processing and evaluation of industrial exploration, production and storage data as prerequisites for these tasks. Implementation of this data in the form of databases and specialised information systems (GIS). • Central Internet research for detection data of the oil and gas industry as well as the execution of data inspections in the so-called “dataroom”.
