Biogeographical regions – INSPIRE

The layer of the biogeographical region of the Republic of Croatia is an extract from the European map of biogeographical regions, used to establish the Habitats Directive (92/43/EEC) and the Emerald Network (Emerald Network). The European Biogeographical Regions Map covers the Member States of the European Union and the countries within the Emerald Network (countries signatory to the Berne Convention), and the layer can be downloaded from the website of the European Environment Agency: https://www.eea.europa.eu/data-and-maps/data/biogeographical-regions-europe-3. The map extract for the territory of the Republic of Croatia includes three biogeographical regions: Alpine, Mediterranean and Continental.
