Report and National PCB Inventory – Years 2015 Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and polychlorinated terphenyls (PCTs), generally known as PCBs, are chemicals that until the mid-1970s had extensive application in transformers, capacitors and other electrical equipment. Particular attention has been paid to these from an environmental point of view, given their potential for pollution, and their marketing and use are currently subject to restrictions due to risks to human health and the environment.
