Culex quinquefasciatus resistance to the binary (Bin) toxin, the major larvicidal component from Lysinibacillus sphaericus, is associated with mutations in the cqm1 gene, encoding the Bin-toxin receptor. Our laboratory has maintained and studied two Bin-resistant Cx. quinquefasciatus colonies (REC, and REC-2) whose larvae are homozygous for different cqm1 resistant alleles having a recessive inheritance. Therefore, this study aimed at investigating the transcriptome of these two Cx quinquefasciatus Bin-resistant colonies (REC, REC-2), followed by an evaluation of the quantitative transcription profile of some genes involved in resistance. The transcriptome of the resistant colonies were compared to a reference one by next generation sequencing (RNAseq) to provide an overview of their expression profile.
