REMARKS A rather scattered species, firstly mentioned from Malta by Baur (1891, as Gymnostomum tortile Schwägr.), rediscovered by Lanfranco in 1977 who included it in the Red Data Book (Lanfranco 1989), and a recent Holyoak collection is cited in Mifsud (2012).
