Papaya GBS ('RB2'x 'Sunrise Solo' F2 population)

This study focused on linkage mapping and QTL analysis for fruit quality traits. A major objective was to characterise the genetic basis of sweetness and other important traits (fruit weight, fruit length, fruit width, skin freckle, flesh thickness and fruit firmness). Two distinct Papaya, genotype RB2 and Sunrise Solo were crossed and the F1 was self-pollinated to create an F2 population. The population was phenotyped over the course of 2 years.
