Resident Perceptions of an Onshore Airborne Wind Energy Test Site in Ireland: Survey Data

This dataset originates from a survey study conducted between April and July 2024 by an interdisciplinary research team from Delft University of Technology (the Netherlands), Politecnico di Milano (Italy), and Medical School Hamburg (Germany). The study explored residents' perceptions of airborne wind energy (AWE) technology in County Mayo, Ireland.The survey focused on residents' experiences with an existing onshore AWE test site in County Mayo and their views on a hypothetical offshore deployment. This dataset includes only responses related to the onshore test site.The research is part of a PhD thesis on AWE acceptance at Delft University of Technology, primarily funded by the Dutch Research Council (grant number 17628), and a Master's project at Politecnico di Milano and Politecnico di Torino (supported by Alta Scuola Politecnica). Kitepower, the AWE supplier using the test site, and Mayo County Council were informed about and supportive of the survey. However, the research was conducted independently and had no direct influence on technology testing in Bangor Erris.This dataset is publicly available as supplementary material for related publications and the PhD thesis, aiming to support further research within the scientific community.
