The protist symbiont community of Heterotermes tenuis across its continent-spanning range

Heterotermes tenuis is a lower termite species that hosts a wood-eating, protist, symbiont community in its hindgut, from which the termite derives nutrition. The goal of this study was to characterize the protist symbiont community of H. tenuis across its entire biogeography. To do this, we produced 18S rRNA gene amplicon libraries from single H. tenuis hindguts, from colonies found all across South America.
