This project aims to analyze the diet preferences of large mammalian herbivores by using DNA metabarcoding to identify ingested plants. We conducted a grazing experiment in the grasslands of north-east China and collected fecal samples of sheep and cattle from previously grazed/ungrazed plots. We sequenced these samples using plant family-specific ITS1 primers.
