Data and R script for temporal and spatial analyses of deforestation and visceral leishmaniasis in the Brazilian Amazon (2001-2023)

This dataset contains all data and R scripts used in the temporal and spatial analyses of the association between deforestation and visceral leishmaniasis (VL) in the Brazilian Amazon from 2001 to 2023. The data include annual records of VL incidence, deforested area, population estimates, and health region boundaries.
Temporal analyses were performed using generalized least squares (GLS) models with autoregressive correlation structures to assess time-lagged associations between deforestation and VL incidence. Spatial dependence was evaluated using a spatial lag regression model fitted to health region-level data.
