The aim of the study was to test the periodontal microbial community composition among young adults aged 18â49 years. Samples were collected from participants recruited for the SECRETO Oral study between December 2013 and November 2019 at Helsinki University Hospital and Turku University Central Hospital. Subgingival bacterial communities were characterized by 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing (V1âV2 region) using the Illumina MiSeq platform.
