The exceptional longevity of queens in social insects, and how they manage to sustain lifelong high fecundity, remains a poorly understoodtopic in the biology of ageing. We examined gene expression between young and old queens and workers across different lineages of social insect(termites, bees, and ants). These data are derived from the clonal ant Platythyrea punctata.
