The Metagenome of Tsokar water sample was studied for the analysis of microbial diversity . Bacterial community of the water sample of Tsokar water Lake of Ladakh region, J&K, India was assessed by Ion Torrent PGM sequencing. Majority portion of the sequences is unclassified indicating the possibilities for the presence of novel species in this water sample. This study is the first to characterize bacterial community of Tsokar water lake using next-generation sequencing approach.
