Benefits by gender by municipality, 2008-2013

The table provides an overview of the number of benefits under the General Survivors Act (Anw), which was provided at the end of the reporting period. De Anw is a national insurance against the financial consequences of death and benefits for survivors, half orphans (until September 2013) and orphans. As of 1 October 2013, due to a legislative amendment, the right to a half orphan benefit has lapsed. One can only qualify for a benefit if the deceased was insured at the date of death. In principle, everyone who lives in the Netherlands is insured for the Anw. Those who do not live in the Netherlands but who work in the Netherlands and pay payroll tax are also insured. A benefit can be transferred abroad, within the framework of the Export Benefits Restriction Act (Law BEU). The Anw entered into force on 1 July 1996 and replaced the General Wedding and Being Act (AWW) until that date. The basic data for the Anw are from the Social Insurance Bank (SVB). The number of benefits is broken down by a number of characteristics of the benefit recipient: — gender; — region. Data available from: March 2008.
