Burkhodleria cenocepacia H111 is a gram negative bacterium belonging to the Burkholderia cepacia complex (Bcc), a group of bacteria ubiquitous in the environment. Numerous Bcc species can also cause disease in cystic fibrosis and granulomatous disease patients. The sequence of B. cenocepacia H111, isolated from a CF patient, will help determine the genetic factors involved in the virulence of Bcc strains.
