Three ant species were recorded for Switzerland for the first time: Tapinoma darioi and Plagiolepis schmitzii in the canton of Zurich and Lasius casevitzi in Ticino. In addition, a fourth species, Temnothorax lichtensteini, previously found only once on the island of Brissago, was rediscovered. The identification of the four species was confirmed by DNA barcoding. Tapinoma darioi, P. schmitzii and probably also T. lichtensteini are alien to Switzerland, while the recently described cryptic species L. casevitzi is probably native to Ticino.
