Nematostella vectensis population density sequencing

Nematostella can sense their population density and adjust their rate of asexual reproduction accordingly. To better understand the effect that population density has on Nematostella vectensis, we performed bulk mRNA sequencing on whole individuals collected from low- and high-density treatments after 3-weeks. In total 10 high- and 9 low-density animals were collected from four different population density replicates. None of the sampled individuals were undergoing physal pinching at the time of collection.
