Dataset for "Production of Neoproterozoic banded iron formations in a partially ice-covered ocean" by Gianchandani et al.

We employ the Massachusetts Institute of Technology General Circulation Model (MITgcm) to conduct near-global ocean simulations that include representation of sea glaciers extending to a prescribed latitude, and a novel biogeochemical model tailored to the Neoproterozoic era. The dataset comprises distributions of phosphate, oxygen, and ferrous iron for various combinations of mean seawater phosphate concentration and the meridional extent of sea glaciers.Note that the dataset presents model outputs as the decadal averages for the last 100 years of the simulation. We have also provided a Juypter notebook (figures_gianchandani2024production.ipynb) that can be used to produce the figures presented in our study.
