Improving Texas Wildfire Planning: Ranking Community Exposure to Guide Low‑Cost Mitigation

This project identifies Texas communities most exposed to wildfire risk by combining federally modeled wildfire hazard data with local population concentration. Using geospatial analysis, we translate complex risk patterns into a clear exposure index that highlights where people and wildfire danger overlap. Our findings help prioritize communities that would benefit most from early, low-cost mitigation efforts. The results support data-informed, community-level actions that can reduce wildfire impact before the next fire season.
