Gut Microbiota-Mediated Conversion of Coenzyme A in Vitro

The bacterium Roseburia inulinivorans harbors enzymes predicted to be involved in coenzyme A (CoA) metabolism. To experimentally validate the source of pantetheine, we performed an in vitro co-culture of R. inulinivorans with CoA and analyzed metabolomic profiles. The results demonstrated a significant increase in pantetheine levels upon CoA supplementation. This finding indicates that R. inulinivorans can catalyze the conversion of CoA in an in vitro system, leading to the accumulation of pantetheine.
