Data, scripts and supplementary materials — Characterization of benthic cyanobacterial communities of Lake Geneva shoreline using 16S metabarcoding (2017–2025)

This repository contains the data, R scripts, and supplementary materials associated with the master's thesis: "Characterization of benthic cyanobacterial and microbial communities in Lake Geneva (Lac Léman) and its tributaries using 16S rRNA metabarcoding" (Pro2Bio Master, 2025). Data were collected during two field campaigns (SYNAQUA 2017 and ALGA/CyanoBenToxOmic 2025) across 61 littoral sites and 15 tributaries. Analyses include alpha and beta diversity, redundancy analysis (RDA), community drift assessment, and digital droplet PCR (ddPCR) targeting cyanotoxin biosynthesis genes. This work was conducted within the ALGA Interreg project (Efflorescences Algales dans le Léman face aux changements GlobAux) in collaboration with SCIMABIO Interface and INRAE CARRTEL. Note: The internal taxonomic reference databases (SILVA v138.2/CyanoSeq v1.3/INRAE internal database) used for taxonomic assignment are confidential and not included in this repository.
