Determination of the influences of alternative chemical-analytic reprocessing processes on the evaluation of solid substitute fuels “EBS-Analytics”

The Substitute Fuels Directive of the Ministry of Life provides for rules on the methods of determination of substitute fuels to be incorporated into the amendment to the Waste Incineration Ordinance (AVV). The Federal Environment Agency has tested the influences of fine treatment and alternative acid mixtures for the digestion of heterogeneous substitute fuels for the environmental parameters arsenic, lead, cadmium, chromium, cobalt, nickel, antimony, copper, zinc and mercury. It was examined whether the more elaborate processing with centrifugal mills is justified. Alternative digestion methods used in waste and solid biofuels were compared and discussed. For plastic mixtures from the waste sector, another suitable acid mixture is proposed for the amendment to the AVV.
