Foll. 118-238. ARCHIMEDES περι της σφαιρας και κυλινδρουكتاب الكرة و الاسطوانة , according to the version of Thâbit b. Ḳurrah and Isḥâḳ b. Ḥunain, with a commentary, which is chiefly derived from that of Eutocius of Ascalon اوطيوقيوس العسقلانى ; followed (fol.231v.) by the Archimedean treatise κυκλου μετρησιςفى تكسير الدائرة . Cf. Ḥ. Kh. v. 150; Wenrich, 190 sq.; Cat. Lugd. iii. 57. The history of this edition is given in the preface of the editor , which begin: اقول بعد تحميد الله و تمجيده ... انى كنت فى طلب الوقوف على بعض المسائل المذكورة فى كتاب الكرة و الاسطوانة لارشميدس زمانا طويلا الخ. At the end of the second مقالة we also find the appendix of Abu Sahl Waijan Ḳûhî.1 Ends: و ذلك ما اردناه فهذا ما اورده ابو سهل القوهى تمت المقالة الثانية و تم بتمامها كتاب الكرة و الاسطوانة لارشميدس . Then follows immediately the second treatise, inscribed: مقالة ارشميدس فى تكسير الدائرة و هى ثلثة اشكال. An elegant copy, written in Nasta’liḳ, of the twelfth century. The treatises II.-V. were revised between 9th and 11th Jumâda I.2 The first two pages are richly ornamented and gilt. Gold and coloured lines round the other pages. [Hastings.] 1 See Cat.
