In September 2024, soil samples of L. japonicus were gathered from the Nushan volcano. From sampling plot, four plants were collected utilizing the five-point sampling technique, and different characteristics of these plants were assessed, and for each plant, clumps containing L. japonicus roots were carefully excavated. Soil located away from the plant about 20 cm was gathered and classified as non-rhizosphere soil. Next, soil within 2 mm of the roots was gently removed using a brush and tweezers, identified as rhizosphere soil.
