The work "Identification of Microsatellite and SNP Markers for Parentage Determination in Bovines" aimed at evaluating the accuracy of SNP-based parentage determination using genome-wide SNP data (obtained through genotyping by sequencing). The trio samples of cattle and buffalo (5 trios each) were re-sequenced from AgriGenome Private Limited, Kochi, and funded by the Rastriya Krishi Vikash Yojana (https://rkvy.nic.in/) Project "Scheme: RKVY-12-4.2: "Identification of the Species-Specific Molecular Markers for Parentage Determination in Livestock" with an aim to compare the efficacy of microsatellite markers with respect to SNP-based markers in determining parentage in bovine (here data from GBS results of trios of buffalo are provided).
