Intestinal microbial diversity of Ulcerative Colitis mice induced by Dextran Sulfate Sodium

Although the pathogenesis of UC involves multiple factors, many of which remain unclear, recent clinical and experimental studies have demonstrated a close relationship between UC and gut microbiota. The gut microbiota of UC patients is mainly characterized by the depletion of obligate anaerobic bacteria such as Parabacteroides sp. and Lactobacillus sp., as well as the enrichment of facultative anaerobic bacteria such as Escherichia coli and Shigella sp. The effects of PCP on UC were assessed in dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced mice through 16S rRNA genomic and metabolomic profiling.
