Estimating nitrogen budget components with natural abundance nitrogen isotopes in a central Illinois tile-drained corn-soybean rotation

This dataset provides data used in the manuscript "Estimating nitrogen budget components with natural abundance nitrogen isotopes in a central Illinois tile-drained corn-soybean rotation". It includes measurements of nitrogen (N) concentrations and natural abundance isotopes (δ¹⁵N, δ¹⁸O) in tile drainage, soil profiles, and crop biomass, providing spatial and temporal insights into N source-sink dynamics within a corn–soybean rotation system. Laboratory soil incubations were conducted to assess isotopic fractionation during denitrification. Together, these data support a dual N mass and isotope balance framework that captures N inputs, outputs, and changes in system N stocks.
