Pupation time and weight of common heath larvae depend strongly on perceived crowding density for the common heath (Ematurga atomaria). However, the underling physiological process mediating these phenotypic responses is unknown. In order to distinguish most subtle changes at the transcription level a high coverage transcriptome is needed for differential expression studies. The aim of this study is to obtain the first high-coverage, high-quality reference transcriptome at the larval stage of the moth.
