Small business websites in the US, November 2026

About a third of US business websites have a contact form we can detect. Figures from 3,943,023 sites fetched between October 19 and November 1, 2026. Limits: The sites are the websites of US businesses with a public listing, each website counted once, so chains count once. The listings data set has no Massachusetts rows, and the crawl was still running; these figures use what had finished. We fetched each home page and usually one contact, about or location page, without running scripts, and searched the HTML. About 36% of sites we tried could not be read, including those that block crawlers; they are not counted and may differ from the rest. "Detected" misses anything added by script and anything on pages we didn't fetch, so read these figures as lower bounds; a site where nothing was detected may still have the tool. We have not measured how often a match is wrong. Each figure carries the number of sites it was computed from. No business is named.
