The symbiotic fungus Amylostereum areolatum is essential for growth, nutrition, and larval development in the invasive woodwasp, Sirex noctilio (F.). These genomic data enhance our knowledge about the biology and genetics of this fungal symbiont, and will facilitate further research on the infection mechanism of A. areolatum. Understanding the mechanisms underlying fungal symbiont development in host plants will provide a basis for the development of better management strategies for the woodwasp, S. noctilio.
