An improved draft genome assembly and annotation for the iconic Atlantic bluefin tuna (Thunnus thynnus). Thunnus thynnus

The Atlantic bluefin tuna (Thunnus thynnus; ABFT) is one of the most ecologically, economically, and culturally important marine fishes, and has been for millenia. Genomics represents an opportunity to improve our understanding of ABFT biology and ecology, and thus promote sustainable management and aquaculture practises for this threatened species. Despite this, annotated genomic resources are lacking for ABFT, hampering advances in this field. To fill this data-gap, we provide an improved assembly and annotation of the ABFT draft genome, and mapping of polymorphic markers.
