Ky KOMSL Mined Out Areas - All Coal Seams

This dataset comprises the digitized polygon features outlining a part of the known mined out areas for coal in the Commonwealth of Kentucky as determined by the Kentucky Department of Revenue's Unmined Minerals Tax program. Mined Out Coal is the portion of the coal reserves which have been subjected to some form or degree of mining extraction. If secondary mining is anticipated, such reserves must be classified as mineable coal. The mined out polygon map developed by the KDOR will be the base map for the KY mine map project. While this base map does not depict all previous mining, it is the most inclusive and complete electronic map available.
