SensOFOREST LiDAR dataset

The SensOFOREST project contributed to the EU FORWARDS network of pilot sites by developing a comprehensive integrated system based on the combined use of ground sensors and multi-scale proximal and remote sensing. 

The SensOFOREST LIDAR dataset include 4 point-clouds (2 from TLS and 2 from UAV-LIDAR) collected on 18/09/2024 and 26/02/2026 at "Majadas de Tiétar" associated ICOS station (Fluxnet-ICOS code ES-LMa) (39°56'25 "N, 5°46'28 "W). This is a well-established, high-profile observational facility for monitoring ecosystem processes located in the north-east of the Extremadura region (Spain). The site characteristics (tree fraction cover 20%, tree density 20-25 trees/ha, mean DBH 46 cm) make it fully representative of these sclerophyll evergreen Quercus ilex open forest, known as “dehesa” in Spain and “montado” in Portugal.

The SensOFOREST LIDAR dataset also include one point-cloud from UAV-LIDAR collected on 22/02/2026 at "Albuera" FLUXNET station (Fluxnet code ES-Abr) (38°42'07 "N, 6°47'09 "W).
